The Authorizations Specialist performs a variety of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) service authorization administration and maintenance activities on behalf of the organization. Oversees and/or participates in the coordination and completion of special projects and/or job duties as assigned.

Remote position: Preference to reside in Texas
Salaried, Non-exempt: $45k-$50k per year

Responsibilities

· Monitor expiring contracts or authorizations and request new contracts or authorizations with insurance carriers
· Enter insurance authorizations in billing system
· Contact BCBAs to update treatment plans and give a due date for receiving authorization material
· Submit referrals to physician for signature
· Complete attendance log if required by payor
· Oversee the approval process, ensuring all authorizations are approved by insurance companies
· Proactively communicates with insurance companies to ensure all clients are currently authorized for scheduled services
· Identify and report trends and prior authorization issues relating to billing and reimbursement
· Verifies completeness and accuracy of all documentation
· Accept feedback and be willing and able to implement new or modified policies and procedures
· Utilize effective time management skills and ability to manage multiple tasks at one time
· Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Adhere to organizational policies, procedures, and established protocols
· Maintain billing department voicemail and email accounts
· Work from assigned job location during standard business hours
· Attend required meetings
· Complete other projects and duties, as assigned
· Conduct a benefit and eligibility check on new and existing clients
· Monitor unconverted sessions and follow up with clinical teams to ensure conversion
· Assist clinical teams with unlocking session notes and attaching addendums as needed

Skills & Qualifications

· 1 year of ABA experience required
· Bachelor’s degree in related field (preferred)
· Fluent in spoken and written English
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Ability to adapt to a changing environment
· Ability to take feedback from supervisors and make corrective action
· Ability to work on a team
· Willing to learn and implement new skills
